I followed their posted size chart and got a small. These pants are a 28 waist and will not fit a 31. They do have a good bit of length - around a 32.There is also no butt so if you have any kind of booty, consider an even larger size and use the strap in the back to tighten the waist.As far as I could tell these were nice, sturdy cotton pants (I got the 100% cotton version which are hard to find so this is really nice). I want to get the mediums but right now that size is twice the price.
